Rural Regeneration Conference: Creating Sustainable Rural Communities

CREW Regeneration Wales and Community Housing Cymru held a national Rural Regeneration Conference on Thursday 19th March 2015 in Cefn Lea Park Conference Centre, Newtown.

 

The conference was a ‘sell-out’ with over 100 delegates in attendance and was designed as a forum, discussion and networking place for anyone with an interest in rural regeneration from professionals to policy makers, volunteers to front line staff.


The conference took delegates through a range of best practice examples including the latest development ideas and initiatives across a range of areas relevant to maintaining vibrant rural communities.

 

The conference welcomed Lesley Griffiths AM, Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty, Steve Jones, Tai Ceredigion, Doug Hughes, Director Hughes Architects and Chair of the Severn Valley EFFECT, Professor Terry Marsden, Cardiff University, and Gerallt Llewellyn Jones, Menter Môn and CREW Board member. The conference also featured 9 workshops exploring a number of important areas: inclusive communities, rural economy, housing, renewable energy, transport, community engagement and digital inclusion.
